The mission of the Buddha is to discover the lost path to nirvana or spiritual freedom and teach this path to others
Buddha Guatama taught that Nirvana is achieved by breaking the cycle of samsara or the aimless wandering driven by ignorance and cravings. Our karma defines the form our lives take and our deeds determine our karma. Good deeds beget a pleasant rebirth and bad deeds a painful one. Buddha offers us more than that. His nirvana is beyond birth and rebirth. It is spiritual freedom brought by learning Dharma, the ultimate truth of the world.
Everyone must learn this truth for themselves, and with the aid of boundless love and compassion for all living beings it is within our grasp.
Nirvana is the state of perfect bliss and peace. It ends the cycle of samsara which is the expression of the three unwholesome roots of our lives. They are greed, hatred and delusion.
Find a quiet place, light an annointed candle and meditate on these three roots.
Meditate on the first root. The root of greed.
Look at the way you express greed and feed that insatiable place in you with unconditional love. Meditate on the second root. The root of hatred.
Learn the form your hatred takes and release it into the sun to be transformed into love. Meditate on the third root. The root of delusion.
Examine the false beliefs you hold that justify your greed and hatred. Pray that the ultimate truth of the world opens you up to the reality that allows the end of your suffering.
